Aptar’s 2020 submission focused on the work that Aptar has accomplished though product Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) and highlighted the new enhancements Aptar teams worked on to integrate into our eco-design and LCA capabilities.
This newly improved tool helps product designers and customers answer questions about how components flow through the recycling and waste stream. Through collaboration with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, a Material Circularity Indicator (MCI) was defined and integrated to help designers define how circular a product is. New functionalities deliver a greater depth of data to complete a recyclability assessment of the full packaging – not just the Aptar components – producing both a recyclability score and a circularity score.
Aptar’s entry into GSK’s 2020 Environmental Sustainability Supplier Awards was first shortlisted to the top three in the Large Enterprise category. Subsequently, Aptar was invited to participate in a virtual roundtable where members of our Global Account Management team, along with Aptar’s Global Sustainability team, presented to the GSK awards panel. The winners were announced shortly afterwards. Although not the overall winner, the project received a “Special Mention” for its innovation, an aspect that stood out to the GSK awards panel.
Aptar remains committed to reducing our impact on the environment. Our partnerships with global organizations and customers that share our vision further reiterates our commitment to a more circular economy. This is redefining how we collaborate with our customers and suppliers to design and manufacture our products with both people and planet in mind.
