About the “Inclusive Designer” Label
APF France handicap is a national organization advocating for the rights and inclusion of people with disabilities. Its innovation department, the TechLab, specializes in inclusive design and supports companies in developing more accessible products and services by involving people with disabilities and seniors directly in the design process.
The “Inclusive Designer” label was created by TechLab in collaboration with the Technology for Change Chair at Institut Polytechnique de Paris, which explores the intersection of innovation, inclusion, and sustainability. Following a rigorous audit of the tools and methods deployed in inclusive innovation, the TechLab awarded Aptar Beauty Level 1 certification under this label.
Valid for three years, this label certifies that the company meets a high standard of inclusivity in the design of its products and services, mainly by involving diverse individuals with reduced mobility, disabilities and seniors, early in the creative process. Aptar Beauty conducts collaborative ideation workshops in partnership with APF France handicap to test new packaging prototypes as well as existing products. These sessions help identify concrete areas for improvement regarding user experience and formalize best practices for future packaging development.
“Inclusive design is central to our innovation strategy. As part of our partnership with APF France handicap, we integrate universal design principles into our development processes to create solutions accessible to all.”
Marie Jacquemin, Global Consumer Insights & Ideation Manager, Aptar Beauty
Inclusivity at the Core of Packaging Dispensing Innovation
This certification is part of Aptar Beauty’s long-term innovation strategy, committed to making all beauty and personal care packaging more inclusive and more empowering, to enhance the user experience for all. As a global leader in dispensing systems, Aptar Beauty has published two white papers on the subject:
These guides offer deeper insights into the challenges faced by people with disabilities when using beauty products and provide actionable recommendations to help companies move toward universal design.
In parallel, Aptar Beauty advocates internally by attending events and programs focused on inclusion, equity and belonging, to share universal design principles across the organization and beyond. By leading expert panels and conferences, Aptar seeks to foster a genuine culture of inclusive design and embed it sustainably into the practices of packaging and beauty industry stakeholders.
“For Aptar, inclusive innovation isn’t just a goal, it’s a mindset. By embedding universal design principles into our company culture, we empower our teams to create solutions with purpose, in a way that reflects the diversity of our global community.”
