(NYSE: ATR), a global leader in drug and consumer product dosing, dispensing and protection technologies, today released its 2023 Corporate Sustainability / Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) Report entitled Progress Takes Shape. Aptar’s report highlights key milestones of its global sustainability strategy across the company’s global operations focused on three key pillars:
- Care – operating with care for employees, communities and the environment by continuously improving our impact and reducing our footprint;
- Collaboration – innovating alongside customers, suppliers, industry coalitions and nonprofits to enable progress toward their goals – as well as for better outcomes for people and our planet; and
- Circularity – helping the industry advance system-scale change that will benefit people today and for generations to come by addressing climate change and the waste crisis.

Aptar has made considerable progress advancing key areas of its global sustainability strategy. Highlights from Aptar’s Sustainability Report include:
- 97% of electricity is from renewable sources
- 86% of operational waste avoided disposal to landfill through reuse, recycling and recovery
- 63% of Aptar’s sites have earned a Landfill Free Certification through our internal program
- Prestigious EcoVadis Platinum level rating in recognition of Aptar’s sustainability efforts for the fourth consecutive year, placing us among the top 1% of the more than 125,000 companies rated across all industries
- CDP Supplier Engagement Leader for the fourth consecutive year, placing Aptar among 450 companies based on our 2023 CDP disclosure; cited for our contributions to emissions reductions throughout the value chain
- Partnering with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, among many others. Aptar is an active member of the CE100 Network and a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact. In partnership with these organizations, and as part of our focus on circularity, we aim to include 10% recycled resin content and achieve 100% recyclable, reusable or compostable solutions in our personal care, beauty, home care and food and beverage solutions by the end of 2025.
- Ensuring a robust safety, health and wellness program for our employees along with numerous learning and development opportunities
- Creating a sense of belonging and celebrating our diverse workforce through an enhanced focus on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) driven by our employee resource groups, International Women’s Day summit and our annual DEI Week celebration. We are progressing toward a diversity goal where, by 2025, at least 30% of all Aptar leaders at the vice president level and above should be women. As of year-end 2023, 25.4% of our leadership team at the vice president level and above are women, up significantly from years past.

Aptar’s 2023 Corporate Sustainability / ESG Report is prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards. For it, Aptar obtained “reasonable” external assurance from SGS do Brasil Ltda for our Scope 1 and 2 emissions and “limited” external assurance for Scope 3 GHG emissions from a third party, in compliance with ISO 14064-1 Greenhouse Gas Emissions (Categories 1-6) accounting, proving accuracy of our systems and processes.
