Aptar Closures’ SimpliCycle™ recyclable valve was awarded the Best CSR/Sustainability Initiative at the World Food Innovation Awards ceremony held virtually on YouTube March 23. Entrants were judged on categories such as: innovation, functionality, design and product expression and represents excellence across every category of the global food industry.
Composed of a low-density material, SimpliCycle™ allows the valve to float so it’s easily separated from the PET stream and ultimately recycled within the PP/PE olefin stream.
According to Susan DeGroot, Director of Product Marketing, this award is one more reflection of Aptar’s commitment to using sustainable materials to create innovative solutions that help CPG brands achieve their goals, while enabling consumers to establish a deeper connection to their preferred brands. “Aptar is an industry leader in connecting innovation and sustainability to drive packaging solutions,” says DeGroot. “SimpliCycle™ is one of the many ways Aptar is bringing sustainability to the forefront of packaging innovation”
Aptar is aligned in numerous sustainability initiatives including the Ellen McArthur New Plastics Economy Global Commitment and is a member of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development as part of its commitment to a more circular economy vision where plastic never becomes waste. Aptar’s dispensing solutions for the beauty, personal care, home care, food and beverage markets will be 100%, recyclable, reusable or compostable by 2025. SimpliCycle™ TPE Valve offers recyclability while still maintaining the same advantages of Aptar’s standard and Swimming silicone valves, including highly repeatable performance and versatility to fit a wide range of applications.
