PADA (Powder Administration Device for Animals) is a unique starter kit from Aptar Pharma, designed to support pre-clinical pulmonary research in pharmaceutical, academic and governmental research laboratories.

PADA enables precise, rapid and efficient intra-tracheal administration of a powder directly to the lungs of mice. The kit contains a convenient, hand-held device with air-driven aerosol generator, ideal for use in early phase drug development of new pulmonary treatments such as asthma, COPD, lung cancers and cystic fibrosis.

The powder is delivered via the trachea, directly to the lungs.

Product Details

The powdered active ingredient is delivered directly into the lungs of mice, via the trachea, in micronized form. The administration device produces a precise and measurable cloud of fine particles from the end of a hollow, stainless steel delivery tube. The device twists open at the center to reveal a sample chamber or container that is manually filled with small amounts (1 to 20 mg) of powdered material. Powdered formulations remain unaffected by passage through the device and over 70% of the loaded volume is delivered, with very little lost.

The kit’s main components are a hand held delivery device, 5 separate metallic dose containers and an aerolizer.
The delivery device has a short cannula (intra-tracheal) with a length of 1.34 inches - ideal for direct delivery into the lungs of mice.
Please note - PADA is for Research Use, not for use in human clinical research.

The administration device is compatible with autoclave sterilization.
