Innovation plays a critical role in China’s overall modern development. As part of Aptar’s innovation journey in Asia, we have partnered with The Design Innovation Institute Shanghai (DIIS). DIIS is a non-profit organization dedicated to collaborative innovation, bringing together experts across multiple industries and disciplines to create an innovation ecosystem. Aptar is part of this innovative infrastructure and works with this organization to access the expertise of the world and create greater customer and partner intimacy.
Shanghai Innovation and Creative Design Institute (DIIS):
The DIIS mission is to build a “world-class design-driven innovation transformation engine”, and the industrial joint laboratory is one of the key elements of the design innovation transformation ecosystem. DIIS unites leading institutions in various industries here, using the troika of design + technology + business as the driving force to carry out strategic research and industry empowerment, explore new technologies, new products, new formats, and new models, and develop the latest paradigm of industrial collaborative innovation .
In 2023, the institute jointly built the DIIS x Aptar open innovation incubation laboratory with Aptar, the world’s leading packaging delivery system expert. In the past six months, it has intensively interacted with DIIS’s vibrant collaborative innovation community and launched a number of cross-border projects. In August of 2024, we jointly witnessed the development of this benchmark laboratory and looked forward to the latest practices in the field of innovation in large enterprises!
DIIS + Aptar Grand Opening:
Recently, the Aptar Asia Innovation Center held a unique grand opening ceremony within its office at DIIS to celebrate its official entry into DIIS Shanghai Innovation and Creative Design Institute. We were lucky enough to have Professor Lou Yongqi, Vice President of Tongji University and Dean of the Institute of Innovation and Design of Tongji University, at the party. President Lou, Ms. Gong Xiangwei, President of Asia Region of Aptar Group, and Ms. Lu Zhengzheng, Vice President of Asia Innovation Center, spoke respectively, sharing the history of Aptar Asia Innovation Center’s entry into DIIS and its prospects for the future.
At the beginning of the unveiling, Aptar and DIIS ecological partners actively and quickly carried out cross-border cooperation practices in various dimensions. At the end of 2023, the theme exhibition “Meeting a Sustainable Future in the Name of Creativity” was co-organized with Tongji University, Blue Crystal Microorganisms, Shanghai Innovation and Creative Design Institute and Aptar partner company Yanantang.
The innovation center has served as a space for international and domestic exchanges, including a number of exchange trainings, design results demonstrations, strategy meetings with leaders in the region and most recently hosted Aptar’s Board of Directors.
Innovation Continues:
The arrival of Aptar Asia Innovation Center in DIIS marks a new step in the cooperation between the two parties in the field of innovation. In the future, Aptar Asia Innovation Center will continue to work with DIIS to jointly promote the development and innovation of innovative delivery technologies and bring a better life to users around the world.
